Program Overview
Introduction to the Healthy Herd Youth Camp
The Healthy Herd Youth Camp is an action-packed summer program designed for kids aged 5-12. The camp offers a safe and exciting environment where children can participate in various activities, games, and swimming, all under the mentorship of energetic counselors.
Program Details
- Age Groups: The camp is divided into three age groups:
- Little Marcos: 5-6 years old
- Bison Buddies: 7-9 years old
- Future Herd: 10-12 years old
- Camp Times: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm, with camp programming beginning at 9am.
- Lunch: A weekly lunch option is available through Sedexo for an additional fee of $40/week. Lunch registration is due the Friday before the upcoming week.

- Early Bird Registration: March 2nd April 30th
- Members: $135
- Non-Members: $165
- Standard Registration: May 1st August 3rd
- Members: $155
- Non-Members: $185
- Fees are priced per week and prorated for week 1.
Camp Schedule and Highlights
The camp runs for 11 weeks, each with a unique theme and set of activities. Highlights include:
- Week 1 (May 26-29): Hometown Heroes, featuring a visit from the Huntington K-9 Unit and Fire Department.
- Week 2 (June 1-5): Spirit Week, with daily themes and activities.
- Week 3 (June 8-12): The Rec's Got Talent, culminating in a Talent Show.
- Week 4 (June 15-19): Mission to MARShall, a space-themed adventure.
- Week 5 (June 22-26): Mad Scientists Lab, with hands-on experiments and crafts.
- Week 6 (June 29-July 3): Rec Olympics sponsored by Smoothie King, featuring friendly competitions and field day events.
- Week 7 (July 6-10): Water Wars, with water games and outdoor fun.
- Week 8 (July 13-17): Storybook Adventures, where favorite stories come to life.
- Week 9 (July 20-24): Christmas in July, with holiday-themed games and crafts.
- Week 10 (July 27-31): Ninja Training Camp, focusing on strength, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
- Week 11 (August 3-7): Favorites Week, a celebration of campers' favorite games and activities.
Additional Details
- The Healthy Herd Youth Camp operates as a licensed childcare facility within the state of West Virginia.
- Maximum capacity is 90 campers per week.
- A registration packet must be filled out and submitted in its entirety before a camper can attend. Certain parts of the packet require information from the camper's healthcare provider.
