Course Description

A survey of geology and geophysics is provided through the course PHYS 1100 Introduction to Geology. Topics include:

• Characteristics of minerals and rocks
• Plate tectonics
• Earth's interior
• Earth history and time scales
• Surface processes
• Ocean processes The course consists of three lectures per week and one laboratory per week.

Prerequisites

• One year of high school algebra or permission of instructor

Course Availability

The course is normally offered alternate fall semesters.
