Education (Undergraduate)

The Education department offers a range of undergraduate programs, including a capstone course, EDUC 4990 Student Teaching Seminar.

Course Description

EDUC 4990 Student Teaching Seminar is a 1-hour course that meets biweekly for two hours. The course focuses on two areas:

• Providing a structured and safe environment to dialogue about student teaching successes and concerns
• Discussing topics pertinent to student teaching, including how to obtain a teaching position and critical issues for the beginning teacher Topics covered in the course include:
• Educational law
• Morals and ethics
• Student/teacher/parent rights and responsibilities
• Establishing and maintaining positive communication with staff and community
• Interviewing and job search skills Corequisite(s): Student teaching or permission of the department chair.
  The course is normally offered each semester.
