The Art: Fiber Art, Certificate program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fiber art techniques, theories, and applications. This program is effective Summer 2024 and has been revised as of 03.26.2024.
Program Learning Outcomes
The program learning outcomes for the Art: Fiber Art, Certificate include:
- Communication (U01, U08): Students will learn to communicate openly and ethically with diverse audiences about their individual creative work through written, visual, and spoken formats.
- Creation, Fabrication, Exhibition, & Critique (U02, U05, U06, U08, U09): Students will gain a working knowledge of the elements and principles of design and their use in the production of Fine Art.
- Professional Proficiency (U05, U08, U09): Students will develop an authentic artistic direction and display technical expertise commensurate with their ideological level.
- Historical Knowledge (U02, U05, U09): Students will apply knowledge of art history to understand, evaluate, and engage in art and art-making.
Curriculum Guide
GPA Requirement
The certificate GPA requirement is 2.0 or higher.
Certificate Requirements
The certificate requires 12 credits from the following courses:
- ART 111: Basic Studio Fiber Art (3 credits)
- ART 211: Intermediate Studio Fiber Art (repeatable one time) (3 credits)
- ART 311: Advanced Studio Fiber Art (repeatable one time) (3 credits)
- ART 411: Senior Studio Fiber Art (repeatable two times) (3 credits)
