Program Overview

Elmitek Program

The Elmitek Program is Cape Breton University's longest-running In-Community pathway program, offered through Unama'ki College in partnership with Mi'kmaw communities. Designed to support any Indigenous student in their transition to university studies, Elmitek provides for-credit CBU courses delivered both in community and on campus.

Program Overview

Over two semesters, students complete university coursework while benefiting from a supportive, culturally grounded learning environment that emphasizes small class sizes, peer connection, and Indigenous perspectives. The program's name, Elmitek, meaning "showing someone a path to follow," reflects the program's commitment to easing the transition into post-secondary education.
