The Master of Science in School Psychology with a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) is a 63-credit hour graduate program that prepares students for a career in school psychology. The program is designed to be completed in 36 months and is offered in a full-time format.

The program is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and is founded on a commitment to developing practitioners and leaders in the field of school psychology. Students are mentored by highly credentialed faculty in small class sizes, facilitating individualized attention and often leading to research and conference participation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the program are eligible for provisional certification as a school psychologist by New York state and are qualified to apply for national certification (NCSP). Career opportunities include working in K-12 school-based settings, residential and day habilitation programs, juvenile justice facilities, clinics, and hospitals.

Program Structure

The program includes a practicum and internship, providing students with hands-on experience in assessment, intervention, consultation, and school-wide practices. The practicum consists of at least 400 hours of supervised placement in K-12 schools, while the internship is a full-time, year-long supervised placement in one or more K-12 schools.

Admission Criteria

Applications are reviewed starting in February, and interviews are conducted shortly after. Students must submit all application materials to complete the application in time.
