Program Overview
Global Leadership Studies Major
The Global Leadership Studies Major is an interdisciplinary program that enables students to understand leadership competencies, theories, and frameworks. The program is designed to help students develop their own self-awareness, values, and purposes, with a focus on the challenges facing global leaders in the 21st century.
General Education Core Requirements
The program requires the completion of 59-61 hours of general education core requirements, including:
- SOC 1010, Introduction to Sociology (3 hours)
- ECO 2210, Principles of Macroeconomics (3 hours)
- REL 3090, Spirituality in World Religion (3 hours) or REL 3095, Ethics in World Religion (3 hours)
Core Requirements
The program requires the completion of 9 hours of core requirements, including:
- GLS 1100, Introduction to Global Leadership (3 hours)
- GLS 3100, Leadership Across Cultures (3 hours)
- GLS 4015, Senior Capstone for Global Leadership (3 hours)
Tool Requirement
The program requires participation in an approved Study Abroad program, earning at least 3 hours of credit.

Global Leadership Studies Courses (GLS)
GLS 1100. Introduction to Global Leadership (3 hours)
This course enables students to understand leadership competencies, theories, and frameworks, with a focus on the challenges facing global leaders in the 21st century.
GLS 3100. Leadership Across Cultures (3 hours)
This course compares leadership across cultures and countries, exploring the relationship between culture and leadership styles, ideas of cultural diversity and globalization, and implications for leading within and across national borders and global regions.
GLS 4015. Global Leadership Studies Capstone (3 hours)
The capstone course is designed to be the culminating work for the Bachelor's degree in Global Leadership Studies. Students will design a project to demonstrate their mastery of leadership competencies, theories, and models, considering their own personal approach to global leadership and integrating knowledge from across several disciplines and their study abroad experience.
