Program Overview

Introduction to the Bachelor of Health Studies Program

The Bachelor of Health Studies program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the determinants of health and the tools to understand and evaluate health-related theory, research, programming, and policy. Through expert instruction, students will learn to be critical thinkers and apply theory in real-life settings.

Program Concepts and Goals

The program includes the study of theories and models of health and illness, individual research, Indigenous health, and ways to address inequities in health, locally, across Canada, and globally. A key component of the program is the 15-week fieldwork placement, which allows students to apply what they have learned in the classroom to a working environment, gaining valuable work experience and a network of contacts before graduation.

Career Opportunities

Graduates have gone on to pursue advanced education in related fields such as medicine, counselling, social work, public health, or education. Career paths for graduates include:

  • Health Policy Analyst
  • Health Care Services Coordinator
  • Community Research Assistant

Optional Concentration in Indigenous Health and Well-Being
