Introduction to the STEM Endorsement Program

The STEM Endorsement program at Gannon University is designed to address the specific set of issues, knowledge, and competencies relevant to teaching and learning STEM. This program is one of only 22 in the state of Pennsylvania and offers a flexible online format that includes the required competencies and practicum/job-embedded activities.

Program Outcomes

Graduate learners will demonstrate knowledge in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. They will engage in applied professional development and reflection, and demonstrate the impact of change within a school environment.

Program Structure

• The program is offered online, providing busy professionals with the opportunity to complete their coursework with flexibility.
• The program follows a cohort model, offering networking opportunities with other educators.
• Adjunct faculty members are also educational practitioners, providing a pragmatic link between theoretical applications and present-day instructional practices and regulations.
• Online or personal contact with a Gannon University advisor is available throughout the program.

Admission Requirements

General Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Provisional admission may be granted in some instances.

• Curriculum Vitae or Professional Resume
• Three letters of recommendation

Program Details

• The program includes 12 credits of concentration coursework.
• Core courses are offered two-per-semester in 7-week sessions, allowing graduate learners to focus on one class at a time.
• The endorsement can be completed in as few as 2 semesters.
• The program is designed to enable candidates to gain the knowledge and experience to work successfully with all students, PK-12.

What is a STEM Endorsement?

A STEM Endorsement for PK-12 educators is an official recognition that shows a teacher has specialized knowledge and training in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Educators who have received their STEM Endorsement complete coursework and professional development focused on teaching STEM and integrating the principles of hands-on STEM learning into the classroom.

School District Reimbursement

Many school districts and employers offer tuition reimbursement to employees who choose to further their education. Gannon University offers plans for both 100% and partial tuition reimbursement programs, allowing students to defer their balance or employer's portion of tuition until 45 days after the end of the semester.
