Program Overview

Introduction to the London Summer Term

The London Summer Program is based at Regent's University in the heart of central London. This program offers students the opportunity to live and learn in London, with a 1-credit course on the Western New England campus during the spring semester, followed by either six credits in three weeks or 12 credits in six weeks in London in the summer.

Program Structure

The summer program is limited to 10 students for each three-week session. The program consists of two sessions:

• Summer Session I: May 16June 6, 2026
• Summer Session II: June 6June 27, 2026

Courses Offered

The following courses are offered as part of the London Summer Program:

Summer Session I

• CJ 290 | From the Inns of Court to the Old Bailey: Criminal Justice in the UK (3 credits)
  • Meets the Social/Behavioral Science Perspective requirement in the GUR, or the Social Systems requirement in the new Golden Bear Discovery curriculum.
  • This course introduces students to criminal justice in the UK, with emphasis on the capital city of London.
• PH 230 | Thinkers Who Changed the World: Social and Political Philosophy in London (3 credits)
  • Meets the Ethical Perspective requirement in the GUR, or the Citizenship, Identity, and Community requirement in the new Golden Bear Discovery curriculum.
  • This course examines the impact of major philosophers and intellectuals on London and the world beyond.

Summer Session II

• CUL 215 | British Culture and Society (3 credits)
  • Meets the Elements of Culture (CA) requirement for Business, Engineering, and Pharmacy, or Global Cultures (CUL) for Arts & Sciences in the GUR, or the Citizenship, Identity, and Community requirement in the new Golden Bear Discovery curriculum.
  • This course provides an introduction to modern British culture and society from the Victorian period to the present.
• MATH 191 | Networks of Modern Life: From London Transport to AI (3 credits)
  • Meets the Mathematical Analysis Foundation of the GUR for selected majors or counts toward the 40-credit minimum for the GUR.
  • This course explores how networks are used to solve transportation and military planning problems, build search engines, analyze social organization, and create AI apps.

Estimated Cost

The estimated cost for the program is:

• $6,850 for one three-week session
• $12,330 to attend both sessions The fee covers round-trip airfare from Boston to London, airport transfers, tuition, room and board, health insurance, and field trips.

Field Trips

London and the surrounding areas will serve as the classroom during the summer term. Field trips will take students to various locations, including:

• Highgate Cemetery
• The London Zoo
• The National Portrait Gallery

Academic Requirements

Applicants should have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the close of the fall 2025 semester and must have earned a semester GPA of 2.0 or higher for the fall 2025 semester. First-year students wishing to study in both summer sessions will need a fall 2025 semester GPA of 3.0 or higher. The program will consider applicants who fall below the minimum requirements if they provide contact information for a faculty reference who can speak to the student's readiness to succeed in a study abroad program.
