Introduction to the Honors Summer Math Camp (HSMC)

The Honors Summer Math Camp is a six-week, residential camp for high school students. The camp dates are from June 21 to August 1, 2026, and the program cost is $6,600.

Camp Structure and Objectives

The Honors Summer Math Camp is a full-time, in-person experience designed to provide students with the opportunity to bond with other campers, develop as problem solvers and researchers, and become an integral part of the Mathworks community. The program is structured to ensure that students can fully participate in camp activities without any additional obligations.

Eligibility and Admissions

• The application process starts on December 1st of each year, with rolling admissions until the camp is full.
• Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible, as enrollment is limited and the camp fills up quickly.
• The typical ratio of boys to girls in the program is 1:1.
• Participants come from all over the United States, and the program has also had international students from countries such as Albania, Mexico, South Korea, Hungary, Bulgaria, Taiwan, Spain, China, and Indonesia.

Returning Students

Second-year and third-year students work with research mentors on original research projects. These projects are typically created by the research mentors prior to camp, and students select their top three choices of research projects. Students are then assigned to research teams based on these choices.

Scholarships Available

Mathworks offers camp scholarships based on financial need. The program provides room, board, books, and supplies. To be considered for a scholarship, students simply need to fill out the financial needs portion of the application.

Payment and Refund Schedule

• Payment for camp tuition is not required until the student is accepted to camp.
• Full payment is required prior to the first day of camp.
• The refund schedule is as follows:
  • Full refund if the student withdraws before May 1st
  • Half refund if the student withdraws before May 15th
  • No refunds if the student withdraws after May 15th

Program Details

The Honors Summer Math Camp is an intensive multi-summer program for high school students aimed at developing talented students of all socioeconomic backgrounds through immersive and in-depth experiences in a unique learning environment. Students develop important skills for future degrees and careers in math, science, engineering, and many other fields.
