It comprises pedagogical theories of teaching English as a foreign language and the practical application of these theories in the classroom. The program provides the necessary tools to apply adequate strategies for teaching children, adolescents, and adults at different levels, as well as the correct techniques for group management.

Target Audience

The course is directed at anyone interested in teaching languages, experienced teachers who need to update their methodology, and non-certified professors. The course is taught in English, and a minimum B2 level of English proficiency is required, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Duration

The program consists of 200 hours, divided into 180 theoretical hours and 20 practical hours, spread over three modules of 8 weeks each, totaling 6 months.

Curriculum

Module 1

• Unit 2 - Characteristics of Learners: Trainees study human development theories and their application in the E.F.L. classroom, including motivation, brain dominance, learning styles, and Multiple Intelligences.
• Unit 3 - Theories and Teaching Approaches: Trainees learn about learning theories (behaviorism, cognitivism, humanistic approach, constructivism) and teaching approaches (from grammar translation to task-based language teaching).

Module 2

• Unit 4 - Effective Learning Environments: Trainees learn to create a learning-conducive environment, establishing rapport, seating arrangements, and keeping learners on task.
• Unit 5 - Using Technology as a Learning Ally: Trainees discuss the advantages and disadvantages of technology use in education and are introduced to online educational platforms.
• Unit 6 - Instructional Approaches: Trainees are introduced to constructivist methods like Presentation Practice and Production (PPP) and Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT).
• Unit 7 - Beginning the Class: Trainees learn to prepare the first activities in a class to warm up and practice by designing activities for a chosen topic.
• Unit 8: Input in While Tasks: Trainees learn about the importance of reading and listening inputs and create or modify inputs and their comprehension activities.

Module 3

• Unit 9 - Grammatical Competence: Trainees learn about deductive and inductive grammar, designing activities based on inductive grammar.
• Unit 10 - Communication Skills: Trainees design activities to develop written and spoken production skills in a communicative way.
• Unit 11 - Assessment: Trainees learn about assessing students, considering various factors.

Upon completing the course, students will have useful foundations and knowledge to apply in the classroom, including:

• Fundamentals for teaching any language: Although the course focuses on English, the principles learned can be applied to teaching any language.
• Knowledge and foundations to present the TKT: Students will gain knowledge to present the Cambridge TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) modules.
• General knowledge in teaching, learning, and methodology theories: Students can analyze student profiles and choose the best methods and techniques for their needs.
• Teaching skills for individuals of different ages: Students will be able to teach people of all ages, from children to adults.
