Program Overview

The Recreational Vehicle (RV) Service Technician Apprenticeship program is designed to provide students with the latest technologies and hands-on training under the supervision of expert instructors. The program consists of three levels of technical training, 4680 work-based training hours, and the Interprovincial (Red Seal) examination for journeyperson-certification.

Program Structure

The program is divided into three levels, each lasting eight weeks. The levels cover various aspects of RV service and maintenance, including:

• Level 1: Safety-related activities, tool usage, common work practices, and servicing of water systems, electrical systems, liquid petroleum (LP) gas systems, and more.
• Level 2: Servicing of electrical systems, LP gas systems, water heaters, furnaces, cooktops, ovens, refrigerators, air conditioners, and exterior and interior components.
• Level 3: Common work practices, servicing of electrical systems, air conditioners, exterior and interior components, chassis and mechanical components, and towing systems.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must:

• Have successfully completed the previous apprenticeship level
• Be registered as an apprentice with SkilledTradesBC
• Have an employer sponsor

Program Fees

The program fees include tuition and other mandatory student fees, such as supply fees, student activity fee, student services fee, and VIU Students' Union fee. The costs are as follows:

• Level 1: $959.04 (tuition) + $186.40 (additional fees) = $1,145.44
• Level 2: $959.04 (tuition) + $186.40 (additional fees) = $1,145.44
• Level 3: $959.04 (tuition) + $186.40 (additional fees) = $1,145.44
• Full Program: $2,877.12 (tuition) + $559.20 (additional fees) = $3,436.32
