Program Overview

The WEST program is an inclusive, supportive community designed for neurodiverse learners with developmental, cognitive, and learning disabilities. The program aims to develop the skills necessary for employment and independence, including confidence, self-awareness, and enhanced communication.

Program Structure

The WEST program is offered in-person at the tiwmawtx campus and consists of two deliveries: WEST Year 1 and WEST Year 2. Both deliveries run from September to June.

Course Content

Students spend three days per week on campus and two days per week off campus in hands-on, work-related activities that introduce them to job-related skills. Work site training takes place at various locations in the qathet Region, focusing on entry-level work areas such as retail, janitorial, horticultural, and food preparation.

Admission Requirements

• Students must be at least 17 years of age and out of high school for at least one year, or have completed high school.
• Students must be able to attend classes and practicum independently.
• Students must have a diagnosis or history that identifies a difficulty with learning or a documented disability.
• Students must be able to perform program-related tasks with strength and endurance.

Notes on Admission

A criminal record check may be required for some modules. An interview is required to ensure suitability for entrance into the program.

• Tuition and other mandatory student fees are applicable.
• A non-refundable application fee is charged when applying to the program.
• A non-refundable graduation and alumni fee is charged when applying to graduate.
• Some courses have additional fees for class-related expenses.
