Subject Areas Covered in the Assessment

The assessment for the Power Engineer/Process Operator 4th Class program covers the following subject areas:


  • Reading Comprehension: 30 questions, including multiple choice, true/false, and short answer, with a minimum score of 23/30, and a time limit of 45 minutes.
  • Math: 40 questions, including converting units, reading a ruler, using Pythagorean Theory, ratio and proportion, decimals, fractions, percent, exponents and square roots, word problems, algebra, and geometry, with a minimum score of 30/40, and a time limit of 60 minutes. A calculator is allowed, and a basic formula table is provided.
  • Combined Reasoning: 30 multiple choice questions that assess the ability to recognize abstract, spatial, and mechanical concepts, with a minimum score of 21/30, and a time limit of 30 minutes.
  • Personal Profile: A 30-minute writing sample describing why the candidate is a good fit for the Power Engineering program.
