Aboriginal University Bridging Program for Indigenous Students

The Aboriginal University Bridging Program (AUBP) is designed for Indigenous students who want to upgrade their skills in English, Math, and Science to pursue university, trades, or health programs. The program includes a specialized Education/Career Exploration course, Coast Salish Hul'q'umi'num' language course, and homework support.

Program Structure

The AUBP program consists of two terms:

Term One – Fall

• Indigenous Learning and Recognition Portfolio (3 university credits): This course provides an opportunity for students to assess their prior learning experiences through the development of a personalized portfolio.
• Study skills and homework support sessions: These sessions offer study, research, and student skills such as note-taking, exam preparation, and presentations, along with dedicated one-to-one homework support time.

Term Two – Spring

• Coast Salish Language Hul'q'umi'num' I (3 university credits): This introductory course develops basic skills in the comprehension and oral presentation of Hul'q'umi'num'.
• Study skills and homework support sessions: Similar to Term One, these sessions provide ongoing support with study skills, research, and student skills, including one-to-one homework support.

Course Delivery

• Dates: Full-time intakes start in September and January.
• The program is subject to funding and enrolment.

Program Details

• The AUBP program is eligible for government funding for the UCEP programming.
• Instructors understand the challenges Aboriginal students face when returning to school and provide support to make their experience a success.
