CSCI 161 - Computer Science II

Course Description

A continuation of CSCI 160, this course covers topics including an introduction to objects, classes, object-oriented programming techniques, dynamic data structures, and abstract data types.

Prerequisites

Minimum "C-" in CSCI 160 or in CSCI 159.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to:

• Write C++ codes to implement functions specified in C++ header files
• Build, run, and debug C++ programs using Make, GCC, and GDB
• Implement sorting algorithms, linked lists, and binary search trees in C++
• Apply object-oriented programming concepts, including inheritance and polymorphism
• Use C++ to implement abstract data types

Lab and Lecture Pass Requirements

Students must achieve separate passing grades in the laboratory and lecture components to earn an overall passing grade in the course.

Attendance Requirements

Regular attendance at scheduled lectures, laboratories, and examinations is expected. The university reserves the right to cancel registration in any course due to lack of attendance.
