Program Overview
Bachelor of Information Technology
The Bachelor of Information Technology is a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to equip students with specialist skills for fast-growing digital industries. This IT course focuses on high-demand areas, including web development, mobile-application development, data analysis, cyber security, network and system computing, ICT management, software engineering and development, network management, and global leadership.
Course Overview
Upon completion of this course, students will have knowledge across a wide range of IT applications, along with hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment. The program includes training in Cisco routing and switching, IPSecure, Microsoft Active Directory network management, Content Management Systems, Android and IOS app development, and object-oriented programming.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Integrate broad IT knowledge and specialised expertise to design, implement, and manage systems, applications, and policies using industry-standard practices in the chosen major.
- Adapt and apply core and major-specific IT concepts and AI tools to solve complex real-world challenges in the chosen major.
- Evaluate and implement project management strategies, digital tools, and platforms to support effective planning, resource coordination, and decision-making within the chosen major.
- Exhibit ethical awareness and professionalism in IT practices, with attention to the legal, social, and environmental considerations of technology development and application.
- Articulate technical information and innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to specific audiences in fields such as software engineering, mobile apps, or network infrastructure.
- Analyse, evaluate, and implement emerging tools and technologies within the chosen major, demonstrating technical proficiency by integrating AI advancements into application ecosystems or intelligent network infrastructures to meet industry demands.
- Collaborate effectively in diverse, interdisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and industry-relevant IT solutions and projects in the chosen major, demonstrating responsibility, accountability, and cultural sensitivity.
Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional)
High-achieving students in VU's Bachelor of Information Technology are eligible to transfer into the Bachelor of IT (Professional) to take part in a 12-month guaranteed IT internship after completing their first year.

The program offers access to extensive computing and networking resources, including a full set of Cisco routers and switches, virtualisation infrastructure, Amazon cloud servers, mobile labs, graphics and video authoring tools, software development kits, and the latest software packages.

Professional Recognition
Graduates can attain professional membership of the Australian Computer Society, and the course is part of the Seoul Accord, a globally recognised standard for computing and IT education.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must meet the entry criteria, which include completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent) with a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English, and a study score of at least 20 in Mathematics (any). Alternative pathways are available for those who do not meet these requirements.
Course Structure
To attain the Bachelor of Information Technology, students must complete 288 credit points consisting of:
- 96 credit points of First Year Core studies
- 48 credit points of Graduating Core studies
- 96 credit points of Major studies
- 48 credit points of Minor studies (discipline)

Fees and Scholarships
The tuition fee for international students is AU$18,400 per semester. Victoria University offers various scholarships, including the VU Block Model International Scholarship, which provides up to 30% off tuition fees for the entire first year of study.

The Bachelor of Information Technology prepares students for a range of roles across IT, government, banking/finance, retail, education, health, media, logistics, and manufacturing.
