Program Overview


Diploma of Hospitality Management

The Diploma of Hospitality Management SIT50422 at Victoria University is a one-year full-time course that provides students with the knowledge and training required to become skilled managers in the hospitality industry. This course is delivered through a combination of face-to-face workshops and interactive e-learning models, allowing students to gain practical skills tailored to working in restaurants, cafes, pubs, hotels, and other hospitality areas.

The course focuses on areas such as staff management, strategic business operations, food and beverage services, safety, and business marketing. Students will learn and apply their skills in a fully equipped hospitality training centre under the guidance of passionate industry experts.


Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to use systems and manage hotel front office operations, including creating reservations, managing accounts, and check-out. Course Structure

To be awarded the SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management, students must complete 28 units, comprising:


  • 11 core units
  • 17 elective units, of which:
    • 1 unit must be from Group A
    • 1 unit must be from Group B
    • 11 units must be from Group C
    • 4 units from Group C, Group D, or elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course

Entry Requirements

Applicants for this course will need to meet the entry criteria outlined below. If applicants do not meet the entry criteria, they may be able to gain entry by first completing a different course. Victoria University also offers 'Recognition of Prior Learning', which allows students to finish their course more quickly when they have gained some of the skills required from past study or work experience.
