Graduate Diploma in Project Management

The Graduate Diploma in Project Management is a postgraduate course designed for current or potential project managers in industry. This qualification provides students with valuable recognition in the industry and is one of a suite of courses that teach specialized project management principles and techniques.

Course Overview

The course is delivered in person at the Footscray Park Campus and can be completed in 1 year full-time or longer for part-time study. The internationally recognized A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOKｮ Guide) underpins all project management teaching, and the course includes the latest project management methods trending across various industries.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

• Critically analyze and adapt advanced project management models and principles to design and evaluate solutions for complex scenarios, integrating social, ethical, environmental, and economic factors
• Conceptually map and implement comprehensive organizational and management frameworks that optimize strategic objectives across various project performance domains
• Devise and validate comprehensive project management plans to address complex organizational initiatives across diverse stakeholder environments
• Synthesize professional standards, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices to lead ethically sound and compliant project management initiatives
• Interpret and critique advanced organizational theories and disseminate evidence-based recommendations, demonstrating project management leadership competencies

Entry Requirements

To be considered for postgraduate study, applicants will need to have specific academic qualifications, including:

• Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in any discipline
• Completion of an Australian Graduate Certificate (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
• A minimum of three years of approved work experience

Credit and Entry Pathways

Students who do not meet the entry requirements may be eligible for an alternative study pathway. Credit may be granted for previous study or work experience, reducing the time it takes to complete the course.

To attain the Graduate Diploma in Project Management, students will be required to complete:

• 72 credit points of Core studies
• 24 credit points of Elective units

Fees and Scholarships

The fee type for this course is full fee, with an indicative fee of AU$34,500 per year for full-time students. A 10% discount is available for alumni who have previously completed a qualification with Victoria University. Scholarships are also available to support students at all levels of study.

Careers

Project managers are employed across a wide range of industries, including administration, business, construction, engineering, health services, information technology, and public sectors. The Graduate Diploma in Project Management course is endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM), and graduates may be eligible for automatic recognition as a Certified Practising Project Practitioner (CPPP) after joining AIPM as an Associate or Member.
