TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
The TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is a nationally recognized training program that equips students with the skills to deliver high-quality training and assessment education in the VET sector and beyond.
Overview
This course is designed for individuals who wish to commence or progress their career in training and assessment, including those who want to develop or strengthen their training and assessment skills in a competency environment. The program suits people who deliver training and conduct assessment within their work role, are seeking to extend or update training and assessment qualifications, or are engaged in a training role and intend to deliver and/or assess Training Package qualifications.
Course Delivery
The course is delivered online two evenings per week and in person one day per week. Students are required to complete independent study, including eLearning activities, additional study, and assessments. It is recommended that students dedicate up to 20 hours per week for this.
Learning Outcomes
This qualification reflects the roles of entry-level vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers, and assessors who are delivering training services to vocational learners and assessment services to candidates. The roles may be undertaken by those working in registered training organisations (RTOs), enterprises, community organisations, schools, and other VET provision contexts.
Entry Requirements
Applicants for this course will need to meet the entry criteria outlined below. If you don't meet the entry criteria, you may be able to gain entry by first completing a different course.
Entry Criteria
Applicants must complete the following to determine suitability:
- Pre-training Review (PTR)
- Literacy and numeracy assessment
- Demonstrate Vocational Currency in a relevant teaching area
- Must be aged 18 years of age or over at time of course commencement
Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation, we will also assess your education, work, and other relevant experience.
Course Structure
To be awarded the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, 12 units must be completed consisting of:
- 6 core units
- 6 elective units, of which:
- 3 must be from Group A
- of the remaining elective units:
- all may be from the elective units listed
- up to 2 may be from any currently endorsed Certificate III or above training package qualification or accredited course, provided that no more than 1 is selected from a Certificate III.

- Facilitate vocational training (TAEDEL411)
- Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs (TAEDES411)
- Design and develop plans for vocational training (TAEDES412)
- Work effectively in the VET sector (TAEPDD401)

- Assess competence in an online environment (TAEASS404)
- Provide work skill instruction (TAEDEL311)
- Plan, organise and facilitate online learning (TAEDEL405)
- Facilitate workplace-based learning (TAEDEL412)
Group B
- Use foundation skills resources, strategies and advice (TAELLN422)
Imported Elective
- Make presentations (BSBCMM411)
