Program Overview
Introduction to the International School of Moscow
The International School of Moscow (ISM) offers a British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for children aged 2-5 on both its Rosinka and Krylatskoe campuses.
Early Years Education at ISM
At ISM, the youngest children follow the British Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. The EYFS curriculum areas include:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social, and emotional development
- Literacy

- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Early Years Learning Through Active Play
Learning at ISM happens through play, with a range of play-based opportunities that captivate and challenge children. This includes:
- Experiential learning, both through the EYFS curriculum and beyond the classroom
- Hands-on activities, such as building model aeroplanes and designing Roman temples
- Exploring age-appropriate outdoor spaces and natural areas
- Regular trips to nearby forests, lakes, and parks
A Typical Day at ISM
A typical day at ISM involves:
Starting the Day with Play
Children start the day with purposeful play, developing their motor and movement skills.
Forest School
Children participate in Forest School activities, learning to make tools, construct dens, and identify bugs.
Experiential Learning
Children engage in practical, experiential activities, such as learning how aeroplanes work and designing Roman temples.
Showcasing Skills
Children participate in productions, concerts, recitals, and sports days to showcase their emerging skills.
Fun in the Sun (and Snow!)
Children enjoy outdoor activities, such as building sledging runs and snow forts in winter, and getting closer to nature in summer.
