Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Arbitration

The Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Commercial Arbitration is a 60-credit program that has established a solid global reputation in the field of international arbitration. For over 20 years, graduates from over 80 countries have enriched their careers and expanded their networks through this LL.M.

Programme Overview

The program consists of one course of 30 credits and two courses of 15 credits. The general structure of the program is as follows:

• Autumn semester: International commercial arbitration (30 credits)
• Spring semester:
  • Advanced course in international arbitration (15 credits)
  • Master thesis in international commercial arbitration law (15 credits)

Programme Details

The first course builds on the general legal knowledge students gained in their law degree, developing the students' knowledge of methodology and progressively deepening the students' knowledge of international commercial arbitration law. The other two courses run concurrently during the spring term, with the advanced course deepening understanding of theory and methodology in international arbitration law and the master thesis course preparing students for their written thesis.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, candidates must:

• Hold an undergraduate degree in law from an internationally recognized university or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 180 ECTS in law.
• Support their proficiency in English, equivalent to level English 6 in the Swedish secondary school system.

Selection Process

Eligible applicants are selected on the basis of a weighted assessment of:

• Grades from earlier legal studies
• Relevant extra-curricular/professional experiences
• One personal statement
• Two letters of recommendation

Applicants must provide documents supporting their previous study information and English proficiency, as well as:

• A personal statement
• Two letters of recommendation
• A CV

Tuition Fee

The tuition fee applies to citizens from outside the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, with the first installment being 45,000 SEK and the complete course being 90,000 SEK.
