• DHEC Screenwriting and Directing : A 2-year diploma course (M1/M2) in writing and directing for film and television.

• MFA Filmmaking : A 2-year MFA degree granting program in writing and directing for film and television.

MFA Filmmaking

Program Presentation

An advanced postgraduate program for English-speaking Bachelor's or Bac+3 graduates wishing to specialize in audiovisual directing in English in Paris.

Program Highlights

• A teaching staff drawn from the professional world.
• Screenwriting: In-depth study of writing techniques for film and series.
• Directing: Learn practical methods of directing, directing actors, technical breakdown, and stage management.
• Shooting with professional equipment: The films are shot in collaboration with ESRA students, enabling the use of top-of-the-range cameras.
• Introduction to post-production: Editing, color grading, and finalization.
• Introduction to scenario and AI analysis tools.

The Journey of a Feature Film

Each year, the students take part in a module exclusive to ESRA's MFA Filmmaking: a year-long meeting with the various department supervisors for a film shot in the summer, accompanying the entire post-production process right up to its theatrical release at the end of the year.

By the End of the Program

You will be able to:

• Write original screenplays for film, television, or digital platforms.
• Design and direct feature films from A to Z, from initial idea to post-production.
• Direct actors and a technical crew on a film set.
• Work as a writer, director, showrunner, or writer-director in the audiovisual industry.
