Introduction to Deree PreCollege Program

The Deree PreCollege Program is designed to provide students with an authentic university experience. The program allows students to choose a college course and attend it alongside current college students, earning valuable academic credits.

Program Details

• Duration: 4 weeks (June 25 July 24)
• Schedule:
  • Monday to Friday: 1 introductory course of choice (09:0011:00 or 11:0013:00)
  • 13:0014:00: Lunch
  • 14:0016:00: Bridge Program (Deree Careers, Student Success, Volunteer Work, Wellbeing, College Counseling, Library Resources, and more)
• Courses offered:
  • CS 1070 Introduction to Information Systems
  • ES 1005 Contemporary Environmental Issues
  • HY 1001 Survey of Western Civilization II
  • ITC 1070 Information Technology Fundamentals
  • MU 1075 LE Music Fundamentals: How Music Works
  • PS 1001 Psychology as a Social Science

Admissions Criteria

1. Good Academic Standing

• Greek 16/20 or equivalent of foreign school
• IB 24/42

2. English Language Competency

• Duolingo English Test (DET) results in the range of 120-125 (IELTS 6.5-7) or above
• Note: Students who have been instructed in English for all their classes in high school (or middle school) are not required to submit scores. Students who have obtained the Cambridge Proficiency / Michigan in the past 2 years are able to waive the DET requirement.

3. Readiness

• Students will go through an interview with Admissions Counselors to assess academic readiness, maturity, communication skills, and potential to succeed in the program.

• Note: Pierce students are eligible for a discount.

Outcome

At the end of the program, students will have:

• Completed a university course
• Created their own CV
• Conducted basic academic research
• Developed a personal success plan
• Gained confidence in navigating an international and multicultural university environment

Support

The Bridge Program supports students academically, socially, and personally, helping them adapt to the demands of university life and develop independence. Through interactive workshops, students will develop essential academic and personal skills, explore career paths, learn how to make the most of support services, and prepare smoothly for the transition to university.
