University Programs

The university offers a range of programs in the fields of film, audiovisual, sound, and animation.


Undergraduate Programs

  • ESRA Cinema : A 3-year Bachelor's degree granting diploma in film and television.
  • ESRA Sound : A 3-year Bachelor's degree granting program in sound, music, film, and video games, radio, and sound for events.
  • ESRA Animation : A 3-year Bachelor's degree granting program in 3D animation.
  • Bachelor Filmmaking : A 3-year Bachelor's degree granting diploma in film and television.

Post Bachelor's Degree +3

  • DHEC Screenwriting and Directing : A 2-year diploma course (M1/M2) in writing and directing for film and television.
  • DHEC Production and Distribution : A 2-year diploma course (M1/M2) in film production and distribution.
  • MFA Filmmaking : A 2-year MFA degree granting program in writing and directing for film and television.
  • ESRA New York : A 1-year training course in English for film and sound professions.

Program Details

ESRA Sound

The ESRA Sound program offers a comprehensive theoretical and practical education, enabling students to acquire fundamental skills in all areas of sound: music, recording, sound design, mixing, video games, radio, and events.


Program Presentation

Each student benefits from more than 700 hours of teaching per year, including theoretical courses, practical work, and supervised productions. The ESRA Sound program delivers a state-recognized undergraduate Bachelor's degree (Bac+3).


Specializations

In the 3rd year, students can specialize in one of the following five majors:


  • Audiovisual sound: Sound recording, sound editing, 7.1 mixing, sound design.
  • Music: Composition, studio recording, mixing, mastering, and production of original musical works.
  • Sound for events: Installation and operation of audio systems for live performances and events.
  • Radio: Design and production of sound programs for radio and digital media.
  • Video games: Creation of soundtracks and interactive atmospheres for video games and animated films.

Admissions

Admission Procedures

To join ESRA, students must submit an application on the platform, choose an exam date, and take the tests. Admissions committees meet every month. If accepted, students can pre-register as early as November.


Scholarships

ESRA grants over 100,000 euros in scholarships and welcomes over 25% of scholarship holders each year. Students are also eligible for CROUS grants, as the degree is recognized by the French government, and for housing subsidies.


Equipment

Each ESRA campus has post-production and multi-station rooms equipped with powerful computers and the latest software, whether for film, sound, or animation. The equipment room contains a range of cameras, microphones, recorders, plug-ins, and laptops available to students all year round.


Alumni

Over 15,000 audiovisual professionals have graduated from ESRA since its creation in 1972. Notable achievements include 47 C廥ar nominations, an Oscar win, two Grammy Awards, selections at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, song production for Daft Punk, Beyonce, A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Big Flo et Oli, and Orelsan, VFX and animation on some of the world's biggest films, and many other professional and public accolades.
