The Career Coach Certificate

This program offers intensive, hands-on training that builds and enhances the ability of participants to assist unemployed individuals. This program is ideal for professionals already in the field looking to enhance their knowledge, as well as individuals transitioning into the employment coaching field.

The certificate consists of four 2-day workshops, complete with correlating assignments. Participants can earn their certificate online in just four months.

The Career Coach Certificate is a collaborative initiative between the Winnipeg Transition Centre and The University of Winnipeg Professional, Applied & Continuing Education.

Tuition & Fees

Registration fees are charged individually for each 2-day workshop:

• Non-Profit Rate: $550 + GST per workshop
• Private/Public Sector Rate: $750 + GST per workshop

Individuals must successfully complete all four workshops to receive the final certificate.

Duration

This certificate can be completed in as little as four months or at the participant's own pace. Each module consists of a 2-day workshop featuring live online sessions. The program is primarily offered in a virtual online format, with some courses potentially scheduled for in-person attendance.

Objectives & Outcomes

Objective

To develop and practice the coaching skills required to assist individuals or groups with employment transition skills.

Outcomes

• Develop resources, coaching skills, and peer network contacts.
• Be exposed to effective solutions for managing difficult participants and situations.
• Understand how to work "with" an individual, not "for" an individual.
• Promote creative "out of the box" thinking.

Admission Requirements

• Candidates must be high school graduates or hold a Mature Status Diploma.
  • It is mandatory to provide a High School Transcript or a recognized equivalent, such as a GED or Mature Grade 12 Diploma.

Modules

The certificate comprises the following four 2-day workshops:

• Career Planning Coach
• Interview Skills Coach
• Job Search Coach
• Resumé Development Coach

Workshops may be taken in any order, and participants must complete all four to receive the final certificate.

Course Descriptions

• Job Search Coach: Use proven methods to guide individuals in adopting proactive and creative job search strategies, and promote innovative thinking for those who feel "stuck."
• Resumé Development Coach: Learn to assist individuals in identifying skills that align with specific job goals through nine steps to create an effective resume, employing techniques to highlight skills, accomplishments, and talents.
• Interview Skills Coach: Implement effective coaching methods that build confidence and help individuals manage interview anxiety, while identifying key interview questions and strategies for responding to challenging inquiries.
• Career Planning Coach: Assist individuals in recognizing their motivated skills, values, and gifts to formulate an effective career action plan, while employing alternative coaching techniques to address challenging scenarios.

Certifications

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a joint Certificate of Completion from The University of Winnipeg and Winnipeg Transition Centre.

PACE's part-time offer spans evening, weekend and online formats, making it accessible to working professionals, career changers and lifelong learners at every stage. Over 600 part-time programs, courses and seminars are available across areas including project management, human resources, business management, network and ICT security, big data and machine learning, marketing, public relations and strategic communication. A dedicated Part-Time Timetable and online registration system allow students to plan and manage their studies flexibly.

Corporate Solutions

PACE's Corporate Solutions division works directly with organisations to design and deliver customised workplace training. From skill upgrading to leadership development and sector-specific professional development, Corporate Solutions provides tailored programmes that meet the needs of Manitoba employers and their teams, delivered on-site or at PACE facilities.

55 Plus Program

In partnership with The University of Winnipeg, PACE supports the 55 Plus Program, which offers mature learners the opportunity to audit regular UWinnipeg courses and engage in lifelong learning at the university level.

International students

PACE welcomes international students from around the world to its full-time diploma programs, offering a pathway to career-focused Canadian post-secondary education in Winnipeg. Dedicated support covers admission requirements, the study permit and immigration process, tuition and fees for international students, homestay and accommodation, student life and living in Winnipeg, and graduation and future pathways. PACE also runs regular live webinars for prospective international students and publishes detailed fact sheets and publications. Pathways to UWinnipeg

PACE provides formal pathways for students to continue from PACE diploma programs into degree programs at The University of Winnipeg. Transfer credit arrangements allow eligible PACE graduates to apply their completed coursework towards a UWinnipeg undergraduate degree, extending the academic value of a PACE qualification and opening doors to further university-level study.

Work-integrated learning is a core feature of PACE's full-time programs. Students have access to internship placements with industry partners, career development activities including résumé writing, interview preparation and job search support, networking opportunities, guest speakers and career fairs.
