Science & Technology Studies

The Graduate Program in Science and Technology Studies offers advanced training leading to MA and PhD degrees. This program provides highly qualified students with a unique opportunity to undertake specialized academic work in Science and Technology Studies (STS). Research within STS applies methods and theories from the social sciences, humanities, and cultural studies to explore contemporary and historical aspects of scientific knowledge and governance, technological change and controversies, as well as innovation policy and political economy.

• York STS is the first program of its kind in Canada, offering both MA and PhD degrees in STS.

• Faculty members have played significant roles in learned societies such as the Society for the Social Studies of Science (4S) and the History of Science Society.
