Course Description:

This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children's education and care services in Australia. Educators at this level are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that meets the requirements of an approved learning framework while maintaining compliance in other areas of service operations. They utilize specialized knowledge to analyze and apply theoretical concepts to diverse work situations and may supervise volunteers or other educators.

Early childhood educators operate in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools, or kindergartens. Entry Requirements:

The following are the admission requirements for this program:

• Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of course commencement.
• Prospective students may be required to undertake a Language, Literacy and/or a pre-enrolment interview.
• Must have completed Australian Year 11 or an equivalent level of schooling or possess a Certificate III or higher qualification from an Australian institution.
• Must demonstrate English proficiency with a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall and no band less than 5.5 or equivalent assessments, such as:

Award Requirements:

To receive the certificate of CHC50121 – Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, students must successfully complete all units in this course. Learners who partially complete the qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units deemed competent. Completion of work placement hours is mandatory for certification.

Vocational Placement:

This qualification requires the completion of at least 280 hours of work placement in a regulated children's education and care service in Australia.
