Program Description

Sociology explores how culture, power, identity, and social institutions influence our lives and communities. Students examine topics such as ethnicity, gender, age, class, group behavior, and social change to deepen their understanding of our diverse world. The Sociology degree offers flexibility, allowing for a major or minor combined with another subject, as well as the option to complete the major with a Social Research concentration.

The program equips students with practical knowledge in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and the dissemination of researchskills that are valuable across a wide range of careers. Students will develop critical thinking skills and the ability to:

• Analyze complex social systems from local to global levels
• Examine inequality, identity, institutions, and social change
• Evaluate global challenges such as poverty, racism, sexism, violence, and climate change
• Apply sociological perspectives to real-world issues and policy debates
