The International Master in Data Science at Rome Business School is a multidisciplinary program designed to first develop fundamental managerial skills. It then allows specialization in using scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems (combining statistics, data analysis, and machine learning) to extract knowledge and insights from data for business decision-making. Learning outcomes include Data Value Extraction, Insight Generation, Process Efficiency, Advanced Analytics, Legal Compliance, and Strategic Contribution. The program is structured around four pillars: Real link with companies (Business Practice LAB, company visits, in-class exercises, and exclusive lecturers), Internationality (international faculty, Bootcamps in various locations, diverse student body), Professional Impact (Career Service, company meetings, Company Shadowing, Individual Coaching, soft skills program), and Higher Purpose (focus on Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainable business practices). The Master is accredited by DASCA (Data Science Council of America), allowing students to pursue SBDA™ or ABDA™ certifications. The International Master in Data Science is divided into several modules, organized around three main phases:
Phase 1: Develop managerial skills and data-driven leadership for business optimization & sustainability (5% of the program):
This initial module covers Managerial Economics, Management Accounting for Decision Making, Business Strategy, Financial Statement Analysis, Project & Operations Management, Marketing (Traditional and Digital), Human Resource Management, and Data Analytics for Managers. The goal is to provide students with essential business fundamentals.
Electives (10% of the program):
Students can choose electives from seven main areas of interest: Next Gen Business (Innovation, AI, and Digital Growth), Global Business Excellence (Industry Business Excellence, International Business, Global Electives with RBS international partner Business Schools, Introduction to preparation for Professional Certifications (DASCA)).
Business in Action (15% of the program):
This hands-on lab includes two virtual sessions focusing on identifying global trends and understanding their impact on businesses.
Global Trends Lab:
Two virtual sessions: Session 1 focuses on identifying global trends with guest speakers from UN, UNIDO, and ILO. Session 2 explores the impact of these trends on businesses and adaptation strategies.
Teaching:
The program utilizes a teaching approach aimed at acquiring practical know-how and skills currently in market demand. The faculty combines academic professors with significant real-world experience in senior roles within major corporations. 80% of the faculty have over 15 years of industry experience and 10+ years of academic experience. Many have worked for Fortune 500 companies and international organizations. The program includes a Practice Lab in partnership with Tableau, providing hands-on experience with real datasets and case studies. The program director, Silvia Bellucci, is a Cloud Customer Engineer at Google with extensive experience in digital transformation and cloud computing. Other faculty members have impressive backgrounds in data science, AI, and related fields.

The program utilizes various software and analytical tools, including R, Python, Anaconda, Jupyter Notebook, Google Collaboratory, SQL, NoSQL (MongoDB), Elasticsearch, Apache Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Spark, Tableau Desktop, Microsoft Power BI, Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and tools related to Artificial Intelligence (ANN, ML, DL, NLP, LLM). The program includes international Bootcamp experiences in various locations, including Silicon Valley, Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Tuscany, Lagos, Doha, London, and China. These Bootcamps offer intensive, immersive business experiences. The Corporate Advisory Board (CAB) composed of 103 leaders, managers, and professionals from national and international businesses plays a key role in the quality assurance process and continuous improvement of the program.
