Program Overview


The Management Information Systems (MIS), prepares students to enter and succeed in the rapidly growing technology field as it relates to organisations and enterprises. Scholarship opportunities The University of the Incarnate Word offers a number of scholarships to first degree seeking undergraduate students. All merit based scholarships are renewable for up to four years as long as a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is maintained. All awards are given at the time of admission. Freshmen Applicants First-time freshman students are automatically considered for academic scholarships as part of their application. These scholarships are awarded based on high school GPA and range between USD 5,000 - USD 20,000 per year. Presidential Scholarship USD 20,000 per year Provost Scholarship USD 15,000 per year Dean's Scholarship USD 12,000 per year Distinguished Scholarship USD 8,000 per year UIW Achievement Award USD 5,000 per year Transfer Applicants Transfer students who are completing their first undergraduate degree and have completed at least 24 credit hours at an accredited university are automatically considered for academic scholarships as part of their application. These scholarships are awarded based on GPA and range from USD 10,000 - USD 15,000 per year. Catholic High School Award UIW offers an additional USD 2,000 per year scholarship for any student graduating from a Catholic high school. There is not a separate application for this award. Accepted students from Catholic high schools will automatically receive the scholarship. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship Each Phi Theta Kappa member from an accredited 2-year institution will be awarded USD 2,000 per year. Recipient must be a current member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Recipients will need to present their certificate to be awarded. Alamo Colleges Scholarship Students pursuing their first bachelor's degree, with most recent 24 credit hours from Alamo Colleges and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, will be awarded USD 2,000 per year. Central/South American Scholarship Any student that is applying to UIW from within their home country in the regions of Central and South American will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible. South Pacific Scholarship Any student applying to UIW from within their home country of Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible. Endowed Scholarship Applicants must be either returning UIW students who have earned a minimum 3.6 cumulative grade point average or high school students who meet the academic scholarship criteria established by the UIW Admissions Office. Application deadline is in March each year. Sister School Alumni Students who have received a bachelor's degree from one of UIW's sister school partners will receive a 15% tuition discount towards a master's degree at UIW. This award does not apply to students who are part of special programs, cohorts and/or recruited by third parties. Sports facilities

The University of the Incarnate Word Sports and Wellness department consists of the Richard and Jane Cervera Wellness Center, the Ann Barshop Natatorium and the Henrich Center for Fencing and International Sports as well as the intramural sport department and the club sport department. The purpose of the UIW Sports and Wellnesss is to enrich the lives of the UIW community through fitness, wellness and athletic participation and competition opportunities. UIW students and staff are eligible to compete in intramural sports, while club sports are generally reserved for UIW students. As part of the UIW Mission we extend membership opportunities to the local community.
