Program Content and Structure:
- Combination of taught modules and school placements: The PGCE program blends university-based modules with placements in secondary schools.
- University modules provide the theoretical foundation and pedagogical skills, addressing topics like: 1. Teachers and Education - Understanding the role and responsibilities of a teacher in the current context, exploring key theories, pedagogies, planning, assessment, and reflective practice. Curriculum Concepts and Contexts - Delving into the structure, key concepts, and specialist knowledge of your curriculum subjects (History/RE) through research, policy exploration, and engagement with contemporary curriculum approaches. Pupils, Inclusion and Diversity - Examining child development, diverse learning needs, specific educational requirements, and strategies for inclusive and supportive classroom environments.
- School placements offer the chance to: 1. Apply your learning in real classrooms: You'll be guided by mentors as you plan and deliver lessons, engage in reflective practice, gather evidence of progress, and refine your skills across teaching, behavior management, and assessment.

Careers:
This PGCE program prepares you for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England: Enabling you to pursue teaching careers in various secondary school settings (e.g., special schools, independent schools, pupil referral units, sixth form colleges).
- A Master's level award (60 Master's credits) is optional, which is equivalent to 1/3 of a master's degree.
