Program Overview
On this short course you will explore the workings of the English legal system. By looking at the principles and values underpinning the common law, you will develop an understanding of the approaches taken to law-making by Parliament, and its application and development by the judiciary.
You will not only study these topics, but you will also apply your learning in problem case scenarios. By looking at a range of case law and legislations, this English Legal System course builds the skills and knowledge necessary for developing cogent arguments and analysis. You will explore and practise legal reasoning whilst developing transferable skills such as acquiring a good grasp of information technology (e.g. using your course virtual learning environment), learning to reflect on and enhance your academic strengths and understanding how to set targets for personal and professional development.
This can be taken as a standalone short course or as a part of:
