Program Overview
Our Quantitative Economic Methods fast-track short course gives you the opportunity to examine a wide range of quantitative techniques in conjunction with some key economic principles. It will give you essential quantitative grounding if you are considering taking a degree in pure economics or finance.
For this intensive course you will usually be expected to have completed
Economic Principles
prior to enrolment, as we assume knowledge of basic economics. You must also have some command of mathematics.
By the end of the course, you will have the competence to apply mathematical and statistical techniques to economic problems.
Teaching is through a combination of lectures, seminars and class presentations, either individually or in groups, and topics include:
The course is assessed by two 1500-word assignments (10% each), weekly quizzes (50%) and a two-hour in-class test (30%).
This can be taken as a standalone short course or as a part of:
