Program Overview
The Introduction to Digital Culture short course introduces you to key historical moments in the development of cultural institutions and concepts. Through an examination of ideas such as autonomy and canonicity, and of institutions from museums to social media, we will examine different approaches to the question of the role of arts and culture in society. Via close reading and historical investigation, you will gain a critical and contextual understanding of arts and culture.
Assessment is via
a 750-word critical analysis (20%), 1250-word comparative analysis (30%) and 2000-word essay (50%).
This can be taken as a standalone short course or as a part of:
