Program Overview
The overlapping consequences of the war on drugs, anti-black racism and the prison industrial complex in the UK are urgent issues that need to be understood together in order to be fought against and resisted. In the UK specifically, there is much organising around racial justice and criminal justice reform, but neither group are working substantially on drugs.
On this Drug Policy and Racial Justice short course, you will receive training on drug policy and harm reduction, as well as the history, function and socio-political impact of the war on drugs and its racist mechanisms, both here in the UK and internationally. It will give you:
This course is suitable for early to mid-career practitioners interested in drug policy. It is also ideal if you have a general interest in drug policy and racial justice, especially if you have been impacted by drug prohibition yourself.
