Course Description
The Foundation in Hospitality and Tourism programme provides students with an introduction to the hospitality and tourism industry, covering a wide range of topics and skills necessary for working in this field. This programme provides a basic understanding of the tourism and hospitality sectors and applies various skills in practical modules of study. Modules within this programme cover areas pertaining to ICT foundation, Personal Development, Food and Beverage Service Practical, Introduction to Housekeeping, Introduction to Food Preparation and Production Practical, Introduction to Events, Barista Basics, and Introduction to Front Office (Introduction to Wines and Public speaking as elective modules).
Throughout the programme, students will have the opportunity to gain practical experience by working in various areas of the hospitality industry. This hands-on experience will further enhance their understanding and skills in the field.
By the end of the programme, students will have acquired key competencies necessary for the tourism and hospitality industry and will be prepared for a smooth progression into the Certificate level of study.

Entry Criteria
- Successful completion of compulsory education
- Or
- Successful Completion of the Alternative Learning Programme (ALP)
- A profiling interview upon admission may be conducted in order to better assist students with their learning process. Admissions of special cases will be referred to the ITS’ Admissions Board.
- All students will be asked for a Food Handling License in the application form. Applicants who are still not in possession of the license at application phase will be directed on the application form itself to apply for the Food Handling Course which leads to License B.
- Note: Individuals applying for the Foundation in Hospitality and Tourism study programme must be a minimum of 16 years of age by end of December of current academic year and are not to exceed the age of 22 years by the start of the academic year.
