Program Overview

Visualization is all about pre-visualizing action, camera angles and camera movement before anything is filmed. The course of planning out complicated sequences in 3D has now become a recognised step in the pipeline of almost all large-scale film making ventures. The demand for skilled artists in this field of work has increased greatly and our course can help you start your journey in the industry.

Based at our High Wycombe campus and

Pinewood Studio Base

, our MA in Visualization for Film and TV Production offers you the chance to gain specialised skills and knowledge in this very niche field of film making. You will learn the process of pre-visualising camera angles, and camera movement before anything is even filmed.

Performance can be taken from onset motion capture and retargeting onto virtual characters using motion builder. Camera angles can be explored through virtual cameras and an LED wall can be simulated in the engine.

Virtual Pre-visualization 2 20.00

Credits

20.00

You'll continue to have an opportunity create a previz sequence by building a virtual environment of your choice and render through a real-time engine like Unreal Engine. This module is about exploration and you will be expected to focus on an area of interest.

Post Visualization 1 20.00

Credits

You'll study how to use live-action elements, creating a post-viz to professional standards and setting the level of complexity of the project. You'll have a choice to use an actor against a green screen to replace a CG character and/or to replace an environment with a live action plate. You'll use 3D tracking software and 2D compositing software.

Post Visualization 2 20.00

Credits

20.00

You'll continue the work you began in Post-Visualization 1 and aim to produce a post-viz (45 seconds) to professional standards, demonstrating a strong sense of visual direction, technical competence, and polished appeal.

Storytelling and Emotion 20.00

Credits

20.00

You'll study storytelling moments & how to tell them through cinematographic techniques, devise your own short story, create storyboards & express your directorial voice by creating character or creature animation performance to help drive the story.
