Course Overview

Students returning to the HCPC register are required to complete a period of updating, the length of which is dependent on how long you have been out of practice. The HCPC (2017) Returning to Practice guidance identifies a period of updating can include a combination of formal study, supervised practice and self-study, with the self-study element not making up more than 50% of the total updating period. HCPC registrants who have been out of practice for 2 – 5 years (as defined by the HCPC (2017)) need to complete 30 days of updating (210 hours). Registrants who have been out of practice for more than 5 years need to complete a period of 60 days updating (420 hours). This module provides a structure within which HCPC professionals can fulfil the requirements to return to the HCPC register, supported by an employer, who will provide a period of supervised practice.
