Program Overview

Our MBA is a dynamic, contemporary and practical course designed to produce the business leaders of the future.

We're rooted in London's most exciting region for enterprise, between the major financial institutions of Canary Wharf and pioneering new businesses in Stratford and Shoreditch. We work with these institutions, from Bloomberg to Barclaycard, to bring you cutting-edge insight into the way contemporary businesses are run.

Our course is flexible and accessible. Full-time students attend during the day while part-time students attend during the evenings so you can tailor your attendance around your availability.

We're committed to giving you the most complete and practical education we can so we offer you the chance to visit leading businesses in London, attend major industry conferences, and learn from inspiring guest speakers.

Everything on our MBA is geared towards your career development, ensuring you graduate with a clearer vision of your future; it's accredited by the Chartered Management Institute, so you can be sure you're learning the leadership skills that employers really need, and our expert staff have the depth of knowledge to turn your passion and ambition into a realisable goal.

Whether you want to work in senior management, business consultancy, or build your own enterprise, our MBA will give you the skills, inspiration and connections to achieve it.

Program Outline

During this intensive course, you will study six core modules to cover the main business disciplines.

These are: Managing Strategy, Operations and Partnerships, Managing Financial and Human Resources for Sustainable Business, Marketing in a Digital Age and Corporate Social Responsibility,  Business Simulation with Professional Development, Mental Wealth: Professional Exchange and Applied Research,  Applied Business Project.

But our MBA is about much more than the subject-specific information and knowledge you'll be expected to learn; you will also learn a lot about yourself and develop a wide range of skills and qualities during your time at the University of East London.

Our MBA will enhance your ability to think and act strategically and creatively, as you will be better placed to identify and evaluate ways to solve business problems.

You will enhance your problem-solving and decision-making ability in general, as you learn to research and analyse information in new ways.

And you will learn to work productively as part of a team, improving your personal effectiveness and ability to make decisive contributions to business issues.

We consistently review and develop our courses and modules to ensure they are up-to-date with sector and industry graduate skills demands. Course structure, modules and options are subject to change.

To make our MBA as accessible as possible, it is offered on a part-time day time basis.

Our teaching is rooted in practical, real-world experience - making the most of our extensive links with major organisations based in Canary Wharf and East London, including Bloomberg, Accenture and Barclaycard.

You will be taught through lectures, seminars and workshops, working as part of a team to apply theory to practical matters; from producing business reports, plans and presentations to solving business problems. We use real case studies from our business partners to give you an insight into the issues that major companies have to wrestle with, and how they solve them.

To ensure your understanding of business is fully up-to-date, we invite representatives from organisations like Barclaycard to come and deliver guest lectures and seminars. We also organise trips to leading businesses, where you can meet experts in their working environment, and attend conferences organised by the University.

Our teaching is always innovative, fresh and rooted in contemporary topics - we work closely with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to deliver joint events and workshops that explore topical issues, and honour our commitment to civic engagement by holding workshops with Business in the Community (BITC) to help you see how businesses can have a positive impact on their local communities.

At postgraduate level you will be expected to put in a great deal of independent study - but you won't be left on your own. Our experienced staff will provide support and supervision and you'll be provided with a wealth of learning materials and access to business databases alongside our virtual learning environment.

We also encourage and support students to obtain work experience or an internship while on the course.

Each module is assessed separately - typically, there are two pieces of assessment for each taught module, so that you will have four assessments to complete in each term. A typical mix could include an examination, two will be group projects, and one will be an individual report. In addition, you will have, depending upon which option you choose, a further individual or group practical or theoretical research-based assessment.
