Program Overview
Policing is changing - adapting and evolving to meet the needs and requirements of today and tomorrow's society. At the University of East London, we are developing a suite of qualifications for those already in policing or those wishing to join through our Centre of Professional Policing (the CoPP).
This course is for existing police personnel with over three years of service (and out of their probation), and for those who have recently retired. It is a top-up final year, which recognises existing officers' training, knowledge, skills abilities and practice, leading to a BSc (Hons) Policing Studies degree.
Serving police staff are encouraged to make internal enquiries to their own respective police service for bursary opportunities when applying to undertake this top-up degree.

Program Outline
We consistently review our courses to ensure we are up-to-date with industry changes and requirements from our graduates. As a result, our modules are subject to change.
You'll be taught by practitioners and world-renowned experts and advisers in policing and adjoining subject areas who are regularly called upon to provide opinion, skilled analysis, comment and advice to government, the media and other bodies.
We'll assess you with a mixture of coursework. Coursework includes essays, reflective reports and group and seminar presentations. You'll be given plenty of feedback to help you improve.
You will also have the chance to complete a work-based project, drawn from your own independent research.
We accept a number of International qualifications equivalent to the standard UK undergraduate requirements. For most countries this is equivalent to 12 / 13 years of education at a High School / Secondary School. Some courses require you to have subject specific subjects or submit a portfolio / attend an interview / test .
Applicants must have a qualification from a recognised institution or awarding body.

in collaboration with Malvern House London.Whether you are looking to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level, if you don't meet the IELTS requirements for your choice of degree here at the University of East London, you might be able to study a pre-sessional English course over a duration 5 to 11 weeks, depending on your level of English.
You don't need to apply to study pre-sessional English with us, you just need to apply for the course of your choice and we will decide whether or not you need the pre-sessional. And don't forget that whatever happens, you will have access to all the University's facilities and services, including the benefit of on campus accommodation from day one!
