Program Overview
Course Details
The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) has been designed by employers in collaboration with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and higher education providers to develop the future leaders of organisations. Our CMDA programme has been fully mapped to the apprenticeship standard and offers the best combination of theory and practice. Study at the University complements learning in the workplace, supporting apprentices to develop the core knowledge, skills and behaviours required for successful business management and leadership in health and social care.
Our flexible programme recognises the wide range of business and management environments while focusing on the specific challenges posed by the health and social care sector. We’ll work with you to devise individual learning agreements for each of your apprentices, ensuring they fulfill the core and essential criteria of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, as well as develop additional skills and knowledge valuable for your organisation.
This Degree Apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to offer structured training, an internationally recognised qualification in business management, and professional Chartered Manager status, helping you attract the best new talent and retain valued staff through career progression. Integrating study into the normal working week allows apprentices to put their new skills and understanding into practice without delay, benefitting your organisation immediately.
If you’re looking for undergraduate-level training in this subject area but don’t work for an employer who is offering apprenticeships, please see our related courses section for details of study opportunities that don’t require current employment.
Highlights
The apprenticeship offers a comprehensive overview of key business functions and the core business and management principles, theories and models.
When apprentices successfully complete the end point assessment for this course, they will achieve Chartered Manager (CMgr MCMI) status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), receive a Degree Apprenticeship Certificate from the relevant awarding body, and be awarded an academic degree – the BSc (Hons) Business Management: Health and Social Care (Top-up) from the University of Bolton.
Face-to-face sessions and one-to-one support are offered by our team of highly experienced and enthusiastic lecturers with sector experience.
We’ll support your apprentices to develop sought-after skills such as data analysis, critical reasoning and problem solving, as well as professional communication, time management, teamwork, and lifelong learning.
During the second year, each apprentice will undertake a substantial work-based research project, the nature of which will be identified and developed through consultation between your organisation and the University. As well as offering your apprentices valuable experience, these live projects can offer you genuine insight into potential opportunities or improvements that can benefit your organisation.
Key Features
This two-year part-time course skilfully combines study at the University of Bolton with practical and focused work-based learning and experience in your organisation.
Course materials are available online, allowing your apprentices to prepare work in advance and make the most of the highly interactive in-class tuition.
Our approach to teaching and learning is ‘student-centred’ so we’ll work with your apprentices on an individual basis, monitoring progress and providing tailored help and support throughout their studies.
By studying alongside business management apprentices from other professional functions in health and social care, your apprentices can benefit from a wider range of knowledge and experience that supports cross-disciplinary thinking.
Quarterly and annual reviews, where each apprentice, their workplace mentor and a member of our team meet to assess your apprentice’s progress, promote continuing conversation between your workplace and the University. This helps to ensure the success of your apprentices and maximise the value of their studies to your organisation.
