Our Level 5 FdSc Dental Technology - Higher Apprenticeship Integrated EPA programme is aimed at those who already have experience working in the dental technology sector and those new to the industry. It's an ideal route to progress the careers of dental care professionals, maximising their value to your organisation and supporting them to achieve their potential. Graduate dental technicians design, manufacture, modify and repair custom-made dental appliances. Dental technicians work with minimum supervision and are responsible for the quality of their finished work before it is released to the dentist and patient.
Your apprentices will spend a significant amount of their time in work undertaking work-based learning. Studying at the University complements learning in the workplace, supporting apprentices to develop the core knowledge, skills, values and behaviours required to fully comply with the requirements of the General Dental Council's learning outcomes for dental technicians. Our dynamic and multi-disciplinary course team will support your apprentices as they learn to tread the fine line between art and science in manufacturing precise custom-made medical appliances with the attention to detail, aesthetics and manual dexterity expected of fine artists.

Strongly careers-oriented, the higher apprenticeship for dental technicians has been developed following consultation with employers and industry bodies, including the Dental Laboratory Association and the Dental Technicians Association.
Upon graduation from this course, apprentices will fully satisfy the requirements for registration as a Dental Technician with the General Dental Council (GDC). They receive certification for a higher apprenticeship from the relevant awarding body and be awarded an academic degree – the FdSc Dental Technology from the University of Bolton.

Quarterly and annual reviews, where each apprentice, their workplace assessor and a member of our team meet to assess your apprentice's progress, promotes a continuing conversation between your workplace and the university. This helps to ensure the success of your apprentices and maximise the value of their studies to your organisation.
