Program Overview
Introduction
You can apply for student midwife positions when they become live. Links to the NHS website will become available approximately four months before the start date.
This course is designed for registered nurses to train as midwives. This course will enable you to acquire appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes to deliver safe and high-quality midwifery care for all women and their partners. It will also equip you to develop interpersonal and negotiation skills that can be utilised within a range of multidisciplinary settings to improve choice, access and continuity of care for childbearing women and their families.
The course is divided into theoretical (50%) and practice components (50%). The practice learning and assessments takes place in a range of clinical placements.
Successful students can gain registration as a midwife on the Nursing and Midwifery Professional Register. We are committed to embedding the NHS Constitution's Values into everything we do: they define the behaviours and expectations of all our staff and students, underpinning the work we do in the theoretical and in the practice settings. Further useful information on the NHS Constitution's Values can be found on the Health Education East of England YouTube Channel.
Further information about the University's relationship with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is available in the
