This module aims to increase both the depth and breadth of the student's ability to critically evaluate the management of the respiratory complications of neuromuscular conditions. This is done through learning activities based around the development of advanced problem solving skills in the assessment and management of respiratory problems. This will be facilitated by workshops in the use of assistive technologies, case based learning in small groups and an emphasis on wider reading of the literature to support choices. The module will focus on the management of the respiratory complications of neuromuscular disease and is aimed at those wishing to advance their knowledge and skills in this expanding area. The module content may be of interest to physiotherapists, nurses and medical staff wishing to gain an insight into the management of these problems. The teaching and learning activities are also available as a CPD opportunity only.
