Program Overview


Course overview

Formal teaching for this course will be delivered at Exton Park in Chester from April 2021. The university will still own the Thornton site which will be used for research purposes. The close links that currently exist between the University and the companies based at Thornton will continue.

BSc Mathematics of the University of Chester is a successful course with a very good reputation in the UK mathematics community and has been run for more than 30 years. This course is mainly focused on applied and computational mathematics and is carefully designed to maximise students’ enjoyment of their mathematical studies..

This course will meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation, awarded by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, when it is followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for taught Master’s degrees.

All mathematics staff are research active and internationally recognised with an extensive network of research collaborations with leading researchers in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
