Computer Sciences: Programming (Online)

Overview

You learn through weekly pre-recorded content and tasks, that can be worked through at your own pace. You also take part in live sessions throughout the course.

What you study

• introduce the language and jargon used by programmers
• sequence and selection
• conditional and looping constructs
• using arithmetic and relational operators
• strings
• functions: reasons for, parameters, arguments and return values
• debugging tips and tools
• introduce common frameworks/third party libraries

How you are assessed

You submit a portfolio of development work demonstrating a range of programming skills.

Entry requirements

• Minimum hardware and software requirements:
  • PC with 1.6Ghz processor and 2GB RAM
  • Python 3.13
• International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher
• Age restriction: due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. If you are applying for an online course and are under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment, you must provide a completed parental consent form
