Overview

You develop skills in studying at master’s level which enable you to make the transition to postgraduate study. You are also introduced to the key concept of evidence-based practice within a health and social care setting.

Course Details

What you study

Throughout the award you study the different aspects of evidence-based practice which includes how to develop a focused question, how to undertake a structured search, how to critically evaluate research evidence and how to manage and evaluate evidence-based change. You also learn how to write a report.

How you learn

Learning and teaching methods include lectures, seminars, group work, practical work and tutorials. Learning materials for distance learners are provided through the virtual learning environment and include interactive materials and email tutorials. A formative assessment opportunity is provided at the start of the award to support your learning. The summative assessment is a 4,000 word written report.

Entry Requirements

You should have a relevant undergraduate degree at 2.2 or above or evidence of successful study at degree level.

Employability

This award helps you develop evidence-based practice skills and is a useful precursor to completing a full master’s programme.
