Focused Negotiated Study in Medical Ultrasound Practice University Certificate in Postgraduate Continuing Education

This award enables you to design a focused area of study in an area of ultrasound.


Course Details

How You Learn

  • Your teaching is shared with other clinical modules where possible.
  • The Pharmaceutical Analytical Consultancy Services lab and Northern Region Ultrasound Simulation Centre are fully integrated into delivering your module.
  • You are encouraged to take ownership of your own and your peers' learning.
  • Your direct contact time is supplemented with the University's virtual learning environment.
  • To become an autonomous ultrasound practitioner, you undertake a clinical placement.
  • Your placement develops your comprehensive and critical understanding to practice in your chosen area of ultrasound.
  • You also have a clinical mentor who guides you throughout your training and provides an invaluable source of support.

How You Are Assessed

  • The award is assessed in two parts:
    • Literature review (2,500 words, 100% weighting) submitted in week 37
    • Final triggered assessment in week 42

Entry Requirements

  • You need a PgCert Medical Ultrasound and a clinical placement.
